SIP servlets are fundamental to adding communication capabilities to enterprise Java applications. With the advent of Long Term Evolution (LTE) deployments by telecom carriers in different parts of the world, VoIP and thus SIP servlets have taken a more central place in the enterprise communication technology space. Similarly, with the new focus on cloud computing, Java EE 7 has given enterprise Java a fresh direction. This session explores the proposed enhancements to SIP servlets technology and considers the possible extensions, which may include VoLTE, new RFCs, high-level services, leveraging of asynchronous servlets, enhanced application composition, and alignment with Java EE 7, among other things.
